Steam train

The commute was a little humid.
And crowded. I got out to let people off and couldn't get back on. Just as well - the next train had some breathing room.

Be glad you didn't leave your bag on the rack! I have been *this* close to losing my briefcase on at least one occasion I can remember.

I was hoping you all wouldn't notice the "No Shinpuren" policy.

Adamu, I never put anything up there because I know I would forget it sooner or later, no matter how central it might be to wherever I was headed.

I left a G4 PowerBook on the Chuo Line one Friday many years ago. Spent the weekend frantically calling Mitaka, Tachikawa, Shinjuku, and other stations and filing reports at the local koban. I ended up getting it back safe and sound (although the battery had gone dead) on the way to work on Monday morning.

I think I lost a pair of basketball shoes once, too, but I didn't spend a whole lot of energy tracking those down.

has the "bugger off Shinpuren policy" been retracted?

I don't ride the crush morning rush hour trains. Largest crowd encountered was the Sunday of the FIFA Club World Cup 2007 Final in Yokohama. On the JR Yokohama line from Kikuna to Kozukue - I was jostled 12 feet away from my satchel (on the rack). But I got back to it when a lot of people exited at Shin-Yokohama (to their hazard ~ Kozukue is closer to the stadium).

I've lost toes in the Tokyo rush-hour. I think they call it reverse frostbite.
