Duct tape is much more effect than packing tape. As you know, US residents have been advised to keep several roles of duct tape on hand at all times. I recommend American-made duct tape. It seems to be much stronger than duct tape made elsewhere. Especially better than the kind you find in the 100 yen stores.

Last time I checked, you can pretty much poke through packing tape with your finger...
